Big Sur Land Trust's Carr Lake Site

Site Tours:
During site tours led by Big Sur Land Trust and Center for Community Advocacy, community members tour the Carr Lake property and learn about plans to transform it into a park and open space. Participants also visit the on-site native plant community garden and the convergence of the three creeks that run through the property.

Planting Days:
During planting day events, community volunteers help Big Sur Land Trust and CSUMB’s Return of the Natives in planting and caring for perennial native plants. Big Sur Land Trust staff are also available to engage in conversation with volunteers and to share more information on the vision for a central park in the heart of Salinas.

Big Sur Land Trust's Carr Lake Community Engagement Center & Classroom:
As part of the Carr Lake project, there may be an opportunity for a new community-serving building that will provide a space for indoor activities and an adjacent outdoor area. Over 300 residents completed a recent survey to provide input on community needs and wants related to building uses. Big Sur Land Trust is working with architectural consultants on the development of a schematic design for the potential new building that incorporates community ideas.
