Open Position: Youth Outdoor Programs Manager

Dear potential employee,

When was the first moment you knew you loved being outdoors? Take a minute to remember that experience. How did you feel in that moment? How did those feelings shape who you are today? How has your passion for the outdoors impacted your life, your surroundings, others?

The more we are out on the land, the more we learn to love it. Yet, in many of our communities, various barriers prevent youth from spending time outdoors in the awe-inspiring landscapes of our county. Through Big Sur Land Trust’s Youth Outdoor Programs, we are working to change this dynamic so that time spent outdoors becomes part of a healthy lifestyle for these young people and their families.

At our Youth Outdoor Programs, campers can learn to see the world from a different perspective. They often describe experiencing new feelings of acceptance and belonging, of self-reflection, freedom and quietness. They begin to develop their own profound connection to the land and to see themselves as future stewards of the planet they will inherit.

Big Sur Land Trust is hiring a Youth Outdoor Programs Manager to carry out our unique and growing programs. Our day camps and overnight camps take place on Big Sur Land Trust conserved landscapes — at a conserved wilderness on the coast of Big Sur, on a historic ranch in the Monterey-Salinas corridor, and soon in the wilderness of one of the most pristine old-growth redwood forests in our region.

Join our team. Help inspire others to dream more, explore more and become more — for themselves and the lands they love. At Big Sur Land Trust we strive to sustain the highest level of employee satisfaction, engagement, and a culture of trust, respect and inclusion. We actively work to ensure a positive team environment where individuals are comfortable with expressing diverse views and opinions and sharing power and responsibility for BSLT’s mission.
