You can still hug a tree!

Dear Friends,

We hope you are staying well as you take care of yourself and others. We are happy to see an increase in hike requests! If you are interested in a solo hike on one of our conserved properties, sign up here. With the increase in demand, we hope you can provide 48 hours’ notice so we can confirm your request and accommodate everyone.

We wanted to give you a brief update on Big Sur Land Trust: Though our office is closed, daily business activities are being conducted. Staff remains busy working remotely and meeting online — thank goodness for video conferencing! And, our stewardship team continues to work on solo projects out on the land!

Thank you to the many people who signed up to support our Race for Open Space as runners, walkers or volunteers. Sadly, we have cancelled this year’s Race for Open Space and plan to hold it in April 2021. Our First Friday events with CSUMB and Urban Arts Collaborative featuring the Convergence art show on April 3rd and May 1st have also been cancelled.

Finally, thanks to our friend Jessica Eastland in the Bay Area for sharing her reminder that even though we cannot hug each other, we can still hug a tree! We’d love to know how you are spending time in nature. Please share your photos and experiences with us at info@bigsurlandtrust.org or @BigSurLandTrust on Facebook and Instagram.

We find that moments of gratitude can help during uncertain times. So, we’ll close by telling you how grateful we are for you and your support. It continues to make a difference for the lands you love!

Stay well,

Jeannette Tuitele-Lewis
Big Sur Land Trust President/CEO

P.S. Since we’re celebrating the spring equinox this week, we thought we’d give you the gift of these wildflowers for your mobile and desktop screensaver
