Director of Finance
As the Director of Finance, your work is vital to the health of our organization! Working with our stewardship, conservation, community engagement, and development departments, you’ll be performing professional non-profit accounting functions. These include, but are not limited to, preparing of monthly financial reports, grant expense and net assets tracking, annual budget preparation and posting, and managing annual independent audit. While working with a dedicated team on a variety of innovative and strategic projects, on any given day you might be planting native plants in a restoration site, removing barriers to wildlife movement, working with a rancher to improve soil health, or maintaining a native garden demonstration site for a future park. Additionally, you might focus on keeping our buildings, roads, and trails in good repair; reducing the risk of wildfire; and controlling invasive weeds. Sometimes you’d be in the field doing the physical labor to achieve a goal and other times you’d be working out of our Monterey-based office to help coordinate schedules, develop contracts, join in collaborative discussions with other teams, communicate plans, make maps, or create budgets. Youth Outdoor Programs (YOP)
Big Sur Land Trust’s approach begins with the land and the calming, inspirational, and evocative power of nature. As campers begin to embrace the comfort that comes from knowing they belong in nature, they begin to identify, embrace, and express their personal values, sparks, and dreams.
The Field Lead contributes to Big Sur Land Trust’s mission by coordinating and delivering day trips and overnight excursions for youth ages 10 to 19. Exemplify and uphold our organization’s spirit of community, and the acceptance, and respect for one’s self, others and nature. In this position you will have the opportunity to directly impact youth in Monterey by delivering enriching experiences to campers who may have faced multiple barriers to accessing and enjoying time in nature and/or immersive wilderness activities.
