2021 Race for Open Space
April 4 - April 25
April 4 – 25, 2021
In 2021, Big Sur Land Trust’s Race for Open Space will be a modified event offered in accordance with public health and safety guidelines. During a three-week timespan, participants can run/walk on a selection of breathtaking courses in Monterey County then log daily mileage and submit their times. Or they can choose to run/walk on any open trails near where they live.
During the challenges we faced in the last year, many of us have rediscovered the amazing solace that nature offers. Maybe it’s on a trail nestled deep in a redwood forest. Maybe it’s on a ridge overlooking the ocean. Maybe it’s on an oak woodland that fills with wildflowers during the springtime. Maybe it’s in a quiet garden patch in the middle of a bustling city.
Wherever it may be, it’s the land you love: the land that you return to time and time again to hike, run, walk, play, or just be still. It’s your treasured place, a land that cares for your wellbeing and that of your loved ones. It represents the health and vitality of your community and of future generations.
Big Sur Land Trust calls you to run in the name of conservation. Run to inspire others to care about the places that are special to you. Run to bring nature back into our urban areas. Run for the lands you love.
