2021 Race for Open Space
April 4 - April 25
April 4 – 25, 2021
No matter your fitness level or where you live, Big Sur Land Trust’s Race for Open Space has something for everyone! You can run/hike at BSLT’s Mitteldorf Preserve in Carmel Valley or Glen Deven Ranch in Big Sur. And, thanks to our partners at Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District, California State Parks, Santa Lucia Preserve and Santa Lucia Conservancy, experienced trail runners can choose our 9-mile and 21-mile Adventure Courses on conserved lands that are not usually publicly accessible. Or if you live out of the area you can participate on your favorite local trails. Our collective goal is 10,000 miles and all proceeds go to supporting Big Sur Land Trust’s mission!
During the challenges we faced in the last year, many of us have rediscovered the amazing solace that nature offers. Wherever it may be, it’s the land you love: the land that you return to time and time again to hike, run, walk, play, or just be still. It’s your treasured place, a land that cares for your wellbeing and that of your loved ones. It represents the health and vitality of your community and of future generations.
Big Sur Land Trust calls you to run in support of our mission: to inspire love of land across generations, conservation of our unique Monterey County landscapes, and access to outdoor experiences for all. We see a future where natural landscapes, working lands, urban open spaces and healthy communities are cared for by people who share a love of nature and a deep appreciation for the richness of their diverse cultures.
