French Broom Removal – Volunteer Event
Glen Deven Ranch
Saturday, March 26 from 10:00AM-2:00PM
Join us at Glen Deven Ranch as we work to conserve the cultivated coastal grasslands of the property from the spread French Broom (Genista).
French Broom is a fast spreading species which forms dense monocultures if left unmanaged. It can be devastating to the micro habitats of the Ranch, especially the grasslands. Together with your help and the help of our partners we will be treating a large stand of French broom; ensuring that the population does not continue to spread across the Ranch.
At the event you will be helping us pull French Broom sprouts before they have a chance to grow and seed. You’ll also be hearing from our Project Manager Alex Kalish the effects of French Broom on the grasslands of the Central Coast.
