Carr Lake Community Meeting
Thursday, August 17

618 Sherwood Drive, Salinas
Join us to learn how the restoration project at our 73-acre park will bring back natural creek and wetland habitat to the heart of Salinas. You’ll also learn about the park’s naming process! The meeting will be translated into Spanish. Food and refreshments will be available (first-come, first-served). This is a family-friendly event with childcare provided! RSVP here.
State Parks’ Outdoor Equity Program Grant in Action
During last month’s Latino Conservation Week, we partnered with the Center for Community Advocacy and Habitat Stewardship Project, Monterey Bay to host a collaborative event for the Salinas community. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Sanborn Ranch House to participate! Our new friend Rose (age 6) said, “Today I learned to do yoga, picked carrots, and learned many more things! My favorite thing to do was yoga. I do yoga at home with Grandma.” This event was made possible by an Outdoor Equity Programs (OEP) grant from California State Parks’ investment for low-income urban and rural communities to expand their access to outdoor experiences at state parks and other public lands.
A BIG Thank You for the Bountiful Brew
We’re so grateful to our friends at Alvarado Street Brewery for providing Hoppy Hiker Hazy IPA for our Race for Open Space participants, and for hosting special fundraising events at their Monterey Beer Garden. New supporters and long-time fans had a blast supporting their local land trust while quenching their thirst. Thank you for your generous donation – we couldn’t be “hoppier!”
