French Broom is a fast-spreading species which forms dense monocultures if left unmanaged. It can be devastating to the micro-habitats of Big Sur Land Trust’s Glen Deven Ranch, especially the grasslands.
With your help we will remove satellite populations of French broom, ensuring that the population does not continue to spread across the preserve.
You will use wrenches and other hand tools – as well as pulling by hand – to remove mature shrubs and sprouts, so make sure you come full of energy! Our goal is to remove as many satellite populations of French broom as possible as we make our way along the Garrapata Ridge Trail.
