This moderate hike through old growth redwood forest is approximately a 4-mile roundtrip. Along with all the other beauty on the way to the lodge and through the Nature Loop, you’ll see the county’s oldest and largest redwood tree! All other upper trails beyond the lodge are closed for repair and restoration at this time. Hiking poles are recommended and bring water and snacks. Please note, the water system was damaged by the Soberanes fire and subsequent storms and there will be no restrooms available during this hike.

• 9:00 am: Meet up and park at the Park’N Ride parking lot on Rio Road at Highway 1 in Carmel (East side of Starbucks).
• 9:15 am: Carpool or caravan to Mitteldorf Preserve. No dogs please.
• 1:30 pm: Arrive back to the Park’N Ride parking lot
