Share the “Vitamin N(ature)” + Online Store is Open + December Events

Those of us that enjoy easy access to neighborhood parks, walking trails, and outdoor gathering spots experience the healthy benefits of being in nature on a regular basis. But, because there are not enough parks nearby, our neighbors in Salinas do not have the opportunity to experience as many of these important mental and physical health benefits.

Just like the ecosystems that Big Sur Land Trust cares for, all residents of Monterey County are connected – we are all part of an extended neighborhood. All people deserve more easily accessible places to gather and play outside with their loved ones or spend time in nature to rest and reflect! More members of our extended community need access to “Vitamin N” – that all-important health supplement that only time spent in natural open green spaces can provide! Big Sur Land Trust’s park project at Carr Lake will address this issue and you can help today by donating to the project through Monterey County Gives!

The project will be built in two phases:

  • A 6-acre neighborhood park with play areas, a skate spot, places to barbecue and picnic, and more.
  • A 67-acre restoration area featuring seasonal wetlands, habitat for wildlife, and trails.

We are making progress toward the millions of dollars this project requires, but we still need to raise much more! Your generous support will help create a beautiful new park where people of all ages can spend time in a thriving, green open space to relax, play, and gather together. Please help us bring our collective vision for healthy lands, healthy people, and healthy communities to life by donating today!
