4th Annual Vamos Afuera Salinas!/Take It Outside Salinas!

An opportunity for the community to appreciate existing parks and advocate for more.

In support of the California Council of Land Trust’s “Take It Outside California!” initiative, several community groups and nonprofits in Salinas are partnering with Big Sur Land Trust to present an outdoor event filled with fun for everyone on Sunday, May 5. The festivities begin at 7 a.m. at Natividad Creek Park with a bird walk and park clean-up. The main event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will feature a wide range of activities including gardening workshops, disc golf, community exercise and Zumba, a skateboarding competition, live music, art demonstrations, theater performances and much more.

Parks are important to the people of Salinas and Natividad Creek Park is a beloved example of how open space contributes to community building, health, and fun. This family-focused event celebrates open space and the many benefits of nature and outdoor activities. A wide array of hands-on experiences and public demonstrations are crafted to inspire community members to seek out nature and advocate for additional community open spaces.

Through its work in all types of environments – coastal, rural, remote and urban – Big Sur Land Trust provides places where people and nature thrive, creating more possibilities for lasting prosperity and health.
