Submit your ideas for naming the Carr Lake Park by 9/10!
We’ve extended the deadline to Sunday, September 10 for naming the park at Carr Lake in Salinas. If you have an idea, please share it with us here. A committee of community members will select the top three names for Big Sur Land Trust and the City of Salinas to consider. The name will be revealed in late 2023 before the six-acre neighborhood park construction begins in Spring 2024.

Big Sur Land Trust’s Carmel River Floodplain Restoration and Environmental Enhancement (CR FREE) project is one of the most extensive and important multi-benefit flood protection and riparian habitat restoration efforts on the Central Coast. Using a nature-based green infrastructure approach, it will reclaim the southern floodplain to direct water away from developed areas north of the river.
