We’re sending a big thank you to all volunteers who helped at our Glen Deven Ranch clean-up day!
Thirteen hardworking and industrious volunteers of all ages made a huge difference at the ranch on Saturday, May 4th. They weeded. They mulched. They swept, raked, and mucked! They also did some great work (and received a little education) down at our restoration site – learning about invasive ecology while removing invasive species and eucalyptus re-sprouts from cut stumps. We appreciate your mighty efforts. Thank you, thank you! (It really can’t be said enough.)
Salinas “Took It Outside”! on May 5th
Our 4th annual Take It Outside/Vamos Afuera Salinas was a success! Community members came out to Natividad Creek Park and celebrated access to neighborhood parks and open spaces while advocating for more. Guests enjoyed live music and art demonstrations, hands-on gardening and camping activities, and had a whole lot more fun. We want to express our immense gratitude for the energy, heart and time that each of our partners and volunteers put in to this event – and thanks to all our generous sponsors: 1st Capital Bank, California Water Service, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, First 5 Monterey County, KAZU, KDON, KLOK, Monterey County Weekly, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, Star Sanitation, and Yellow Brick Road.

This moderate hike through old growth redwood forest is approximately a 4-mile roundtrip. Along with all the other beauty on the way to the lodge and back, you’ll see the county’s oldest and largest redwood tree! Arroyo Seco Ranch Guided Hike

7:30 AM – 3:00 PM Meet at the Running Iron, Carmel Valley Level of Difficulty: Strenuous
This full-day hike will take you through rich riparian habitat, dense oak woodlands, steep canyons and a historical location on the ranch. Along the way, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the Arroyo Seco Watershed. Hiking poles highly recommended for shallow river crossings, steep slopes and rocky terrain. Temperatures can be expected to exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Elevation gain – 500 ft. Distance – 4 miles. Sign up now.
