Race for Open Space Trail Highlight + More Events

A Closer Look at the Race for Open Space 35k+

Though there’s an event for everyone, the 35k+ trail run is the longest, most challenging offering of our 2024 Race for Open Space courses, boasting 5400’ of cumulative ascent! Not for the faint of heart, the Lunch Bench Lollipop is a stunning, full tour of Palo Corona Regional Park’s backcountry and Big Sur Land Trust’s Mitteldorf Preserve. Participants will be treated to a handful of different ecosystems and habitats during their run, including multiple creek crossings, riparian corridors, redwood groves, and oak-covered ridge lines. The high point, at about 2650’ above sea level, offers runners an unparalleled panoramic view of the Monterey Bay.

Huge thanks to our trail partners Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District, California State Parks, Santa Lucia Conservancy, Santa Lucia Preserve, and Inside Trail for helping us make this all possible! We hope that you will join us on Saturday, May 11 for Race for Open Space. Learn more about all the course options and register today!
