Volunteer at our Carr Lake Garden + Hike at Glen Deven Ranch and Mitteldorf Preserve

A BIG Thank You to Our Mitteldorf Stewardship Crew

Recent docent-led hikes at Mitteldorf Preserve have been made possible by our summer stewardship crew. Led by Ben Thayer, crew members Sean Adams, Andrew Hernandez, Alex Gonzalez, and Evan Hamilton are living on-site and spending long days removing fallen trees from roads and trails, making bridges, and restoring trails.

As they continue working through the end of August, Mitteldorf will become safer and more trails will be opened. We think this hardworking team deserves a big, grateful shout-out! Check out photos of the crew and improvements they’ve already made here.

Saturday, August 3
8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

You can be part of history at our Carr Lake site in Salinas. As we plan a new park in the heart of the city, we are working with CSUMB’s Return of the Natives on growing a native plant garden. After all the spring rains, the garden is thriving – and so are the weeds. We need several volunteers to help us maintain the garden, remove vegetation from the walkways, pick up litter and apply mulch. Gloves and snacks will be provided. Learn more and sign up here.
